Verisurf CMM software:
Verisurf is an add-on for Mastercam. This gives access to 3D CAD on top of the CMM features. Very easy to go from measured features to 3D solids, surfaces and wireframe, with drafting/GD&T and 2D/3D PDF output of model and reports.
Hexagon 6 and 7 axis portable CMM arms:
6 axis arms are used for tactile measurements of features such as planes, cylinders, spheres. Where there is little need for many points to define a feature.
7 axis arms with scanner are used to reverse engineer complex (organic) parts where many points are needed to define the shape. And also in rapid part inspection where the scanned part point cloud is overlayed on the 3D CAD model of the part.
